The Junior Orange Bowl recently celebrated the unveiling of the organization’s 66th Parade theme at the Merrick House in Coral Gables with members, friends and guests.

Junior Orange Bowl Parade chair Sam Burritt, president Pete Tolmach, and president-elect Kathleen Kauffman revealed the theme for the annual community parade, “Route 66.”

“We wanted a theme that would honor the parade’s 66-year history while also reflecting the wholesome, small-town- America feel of the parade experience,” Burritt explained. “Plus, Jobie looks pretty cool driving that classic car.”

Jobie, the Junior Orange Bowl mascot, is seen driving in a classic 1957 Chevy convertible paying homage to all those who have celebrated the Junior Orange Bowl in the parade through the streets of Coral Gables. This year’s parade date will be Sunday, Nov. 30, the first Sunday after Thanksgiving.

This will be the second year that the parade and festival will be hosted on Thanksgiving weekend, allowing greater participation from local schools and youth groups.

The 66th Junior Orange Bowl Parade once again will march through the streets of downtown Coral Gables along Miracle Mile and Biltmore Way. The annual parade is the flagship event of the Junior Orange Bowl Festival season, which consists of nearly 20 athletic, academic, and cultural youth events that are all celebrated in South Florida.
