Kendall Gazette goes to WK zoning hearing

Kendall Gazette goes to WK zoning hearingIliana Perez, founder of Kingdom Academy, is pictured with the Kendall Gazette at a lengthy zoning hearing by the West Kendall Community Council on Apr. 26 at Kendall Village Center Civic Pavilion. She and more than 250 students and parents gathered to support the school’s application to build a new campus at the corner of SW 157th Avenue and 136th Street. Despite this sea of yellow Academy shirts, the request was denied.

  1. We do not need another school only 4 blocks for Jose M. Middle which holds over 1800 students. To have a school that close would create a traffic nightmare. I attended this meeting, against the proposal to change the zoning, and although we were amongst a sea of yellow shirts, WE WON! Request was denied..The community council agreed. Traffic would be disastrous and currently there is not sufficient infrastructure to support this project.
