She and more than 250 students and parents gathered to support the school’s application to build a new campus at the corner of SW 157th Avenue and 136th Street. Despite this sea of yellow Academy shirts, the request was denied.
We do not need another school only 4 blocks for Jose M. Middle which holds over 1800 students. To have a school that close would create a traffic nightmare. I attended this meeting, against the proposal to change the zoning, and although we were amongst a sea of yellow shirts, WE WON! Request was denied..The community council agreed. Traffic would be disastrous and currently there is not sufficient infrastructure to support this project.
