Do Hebrew letters make you feel illiterate? Ever feel lost at services because you can’t follow the Hebrew? Now is the time to learn the language in time for the High Holidays.
Finally, an easy way to learn to read Hebrew that actually works.
Chabad of Downtown Coral Gables is offering a Hebrew Reading Crash Course to all members of the Jewish community. The course is designed to teach those with little or no basic knowledge of the Hebrew language how to read Hebrew in five easy lessons.
“Read It in Hebrew” is a cutting-edge five-week Hebrew reading crash course. The course builds on decades of Hebrew teaching experience, and updates it into an aesthetically pleasing experience, one which will ensure that thousands of Jewish adults reconnect with the language and heritage.
The Hebrew Reading Crash Course focuses on teaching the Hebrew alphabet and reading skills. In only five, one hour long sessions, participants learn to read Hebrew and follow along in a prayer book. All students will receive a color deck of 70, 5-by-7 Hebrew reading flash cards, which will enable them to practice reading at home. By the end of the course, students are noticeably more at ease reading the basic prayers in Hebrew.
In addition to a set of cutting-edge flashcards, RIIH now offers the Read It in Hebrew app. The app is an interactive tool that enables students to review what they learned, test themselves, and set daily practice reminders on their calendar. The app helps ensure that they will progress quickly and be reading in no time.
The five-week course will take place on five Tuesdays beginning Aug. 27, 7:30 PM, at 1827 Ponce de Leon Blvd. in Coral Gables.
The cost is $50 per person if registered by Aug. 20, $75 thereafter. Registration is required at ChabadGables.com/hebrew.
“Read it in Hebrew” is designed to appeal to people at all levels of Jewish knowledge, including those without any prior experience or background in Jewish learning. The course is open to the public and attendees need not be affiliated with a particular synagogue, temple, or other house of worship.
