Legal Services of Greater Miami Inc. (LSGMI) will host its sixth-annual “Heart of Giving” Celebration and Judicial Reception on Thursday, May 7, at the Elastika Space in the Moore Building, 4040 NE Second Ave., in the heart of the Miami Design and Arts District.
LSGMI’s signature annual event is one of South Florida’s largest annual legal networking soirees, attracting more than 450 prominent legal, business and community leaders including judges, attorneys, executives and elected officials. Tom Healy, chair of the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board and award-winning writer, poet and professor, will serve as emcee.
At the event, the Hon. Beth Bloom and the Hon. Darrin P. Gayles, United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, will be recognized as the recipients of LSGMI’s 2015 Equal Justice Judicial Leadership Awards. The awards recognize judicial excellence in protecting the rights of South Florida’s must vulnerable individuals and families.
The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a private champagne reception and curated tour of artist Ryan Sullivan’s spring collection at the Institute of Contemporary Art, currently housed in the Moore Building. The main event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will include cocktails, entertainment, and a silent auction offering fine artwork, retail goods, vacation getaways, restaurants and more.
In addition, the event will feature a showcase and auction of artwork created by students at Miami’s Design and Architecture Senior High, a local magnet school. Arts entrepreneur and Arts and Business Council of Miami Board of Directors vice chair Sebastien Laboureau will present two student artists with awards for “Best in Show” and “Merit,” and the student winners will receive $100 gift cards to an arts supply store.
“This signature event is our annual opportunity to celebrate our mission, thank our many supporters, and recognize those judicial leaders who help to advance equal justice by protecting the rights of those members of our community who need it the most,” said LSGMI executive drirector Marcia K.
