Leon Health Earns Five-Star Rating in First Year of Eligibility

In its first year of eligibility, Leon Health, South Florida’s premier Medicare Advantage plan, announced today that it has earned the prestigious five-star rating for medical and service excellence from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for 2024. The recognition validates Leon Health’s commitment to deliver unrivaled medical excellence and personal attention at all times to its members.

“Earning the five-star rating from CMS is a major accomplishment in so many ways,” said Leon Medical Centers Founder and Chairman of the Board, Benjamin León, Jr. “The fact that we accomplished this distinction in our very first year of eligibility is a tribute to the doctors, nurses and staff that make up our Leon team. This acknowledgement will only serve to strengthen our resolve to continue offering medical excellence and personal attention at all times.”

CMS meticulously evaluates healthcare plans based on almost 40 distinct criteria in various categories. The star rating system, between 1 and 5 stars, which helps Medicare beneficiaries, families, and caregivers choose the best plan, relies on data compiled from patient surveys about member satisfaction, quality of doctors and services, complaint resolution, prescription services, and more. A five-star CMS rating is the highest mark that a plan can earn and was only awarded to 11% of the Medicare Advantage providers in 2023.

“We are elated with having earned a five-star rating,” said Leon Medical Centers President and CEO Albert Maury, whose parent company is the exclusive provider of Leon Health. “But, it doesn’t surprise me. Our team works diligently to ensure that we provide the best medical attention and patient experience possible. That begins from the time they walk through our doors, to the expertise of our doctors and nurses, to our advanced technology, our patient-centered care and services, and more. The five-star rating is a validation of our promise to every patient that at Leon Health, they will get the medical excellence and personal attention at all times, they deserve.”

The five-star rating means that Medicare beneficiaries living in Miami-Dade County will have the freedom to enroll or switch to Leon Health at any time during the year, and not strictly during the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP).
