Between Black Friday and Cyber Monday falls Small Business Saturday®, a day dedicated to the job creators and local champions who make our economy go!
Launched in 2010, Small Business Saturday is celebrating their 14th year of shining a light on America’s 33.1 million small businesses. This movement is like no other in our Coral Gables business community!
Since the very beginning, your Gables Chamber has been a proud partner and nationally recognized Small Business Saturday Neighborhood Champion. Your local expert on all things shopping small, we are proud to champion the movement once again in 2023!
Small Business Saturday® packs a mighty punch. Nationally, consumers spent a whopping $17.9 billion on that day according to the 2022 Small Business Saturday Consumer Insights Survey commissioned by American Express. Plus, these local businesses create two out of every three jobs in the US, indicating the true power and impact of small businesses.
We invite you join us as we support the little guys in our business community, the brick-and-mortar locations that bring much of the charm that our City Beautiful is known for, while showcasing the products and services you need, both in-person and online!
On Small Business Saturday, we’re kicking off the festivities at 10 AM at our beloved Books & Books located at 265 Aragon Avenue. They’ll be making a special announcement about an exciting new chapter in their rich history. Building on its 40+ year legacy, the store will launch the Books & Books Literary Foundation, to expand its community programming while ensuring its sustainability for years to come.
The Books & Books Literary Foundation will broaden the idea of what a bookstore can be. Through a series of events and programming, the foundation will use the power of literary culture to cultivate and nurture new readers, build community and advocate for writers, books and the freedom to read.
“Books & Books has always been more than a bookstore. Whether in Bal Harbour or Key West, the Grove or Coral Gables, we are a space where people gather and enjoy a conversation that sparks new thinking and ideas. We want to ensure this essential community programming can live on, while bringing it to even more people,” said Books & Books founder Mitchell Kaplan
Make plans to tag along after the kickoff, experiencing Coral Gables like never before! Join us for our Architectural Walking Tour led by third generation Gableite Sarah Nesbitt Artecona and presented in partnership with AIA Miami and the Miami Center for Architecture and Design. Space is limited, so be sure to get your tickets before they’re gone!
So, on this upcoming Small Business Saturday, November 25th, we pay homage to you: the risk-takers and the dreamers, the creative forces and the family-owned, the homegrown and the locally sourced. You are the ones that are hiring the next generation, creating much needed jobs and contributing to the success of the community that we cherish and get to call home.
It’s often said that small businesses are the backbone of America’s economy and there’s no arguing that in Coral Gables, now and well into the future.
So, let’s THINK BIG and SHOP SMALL and SPEND MIGHTILY, in-person and online, on Saturday, November 25th in our City Beautiful.
