The Miami Breakers FC 16U Girls team victory in the 2024 Florida State Cup was truly historic.  Winning for the first time ever is a remarkable achievement demonstrating the hard work and commitment by the group of Miami girls and dedicated coaches.  Led by Coaches Antonio Boada and Andres Mendoza, the march to the State Cup began following regular season that resulted in 33 wins, 8 losses and 5 ties.  The playoff march toward the State Cup began with a thrilling 2-1 win against Miami Kendall Rush.  The momentum continued with commanding victories against Auburndale Youth SC (6-0), West Florida Flames 16U Elite (3-1), Davie United 07/08 (3-0), and Jupiter United 16U Elite (2-0).

On May 18, Miami Breakers 16U FC traveled to the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex in Auburndale, FL with a clear goal in mind, bring a State Cup trophy back to Miami Breakers for the first time in club history.  The semi-final game was one for the ages.  Trailing early to Chivas FC 16U by a score of 2-0, the Breakers battled back to tie the game thanks to goals by forward Brooke Lawson.  Chivas answered with three unanswered goals right before halftime to take a 5-2 lead.  Following the intermission, Miami Breakers came out focused and capitalized on crisp passing and finding opportunities to even the score 5-5 thanks to goals by Lindsey Potash (16), Reva Eikenberg (18) and Lela Eljaiek (10).  Both teams traded goals in the second half before Brooke Lawson blasted her third goal of the game to give Miami Breakers a 7-6 lead.  With time running and after fighting off  flurry of Chivas shots and aggressive play, all time expired and the Breakers were off to the Championship game.

Whistle blows to announce win.

Rested and eager to make history, the girls of Miami Breakers FC faced W&H America 16U out of Gainesville.  Both teams worked the ball through a variety of offensive plays and sharp defensive postures to reach halftime knotted at 0-0.  Following a foul on W&H America midway through the second half, Sammy Goldman delivered a beautiful free kick to Pau Bracamonets who headed the ball into the left corner of the W&H America goal.  The Breakers solid defensive line held W&H America at bay.  With a last ditch effort to sneak a goal past Breakers goalie Christina Cuervo, all time expired and the celebration began.  Victory earned and a State Cup championship in hand.
