Marysol Chamoun and Mike Beaini are partners in every sense of the word.

Twenty years ago, the two were married and within a short time, they launched a new career together as owners and operators of Sobe suds, a coin laundry and wash and fold business at 1427 Alton Road in South Beach. Since then, they have expanded to two other locations in Miami: Scrub a dub at 4130 SW 67th Avenue and Laundromix at 11865 SW 26th Street.

All three locations offer traditional coin-operated washers and dryers for the do-it-yourself crowd. Where they shine, however, is the wash and fold service for those who prefer to drop off their laundry and pick it up later, freshly laundered, neatly folded and smelling wonderful. Fees are charged per pound of laundry.

“I was raised in Miami, but Mike is originally from Lebanon and lived in Dubai for close to a decade, where coin laundry businesses aren’t the norm,” says Marysol. “After moving to the United States, he fell in love with the concept and we started searching for an opportunity to get started. Sobe suds was our first location.”

What sets the couple’s business apart from most laundry services is their commitment to high standards in everything they do, including installing brand new washers and dryers, having a well-trained staff, using top brand laundry detergents and softeners and keeping each location spotlessly clean.

“Mike and I complement each other’s skills,” explains Marysol. “Because he’s very organized and meticulous, his strength is the operational side of the business, whereas I am a people person and am good at customer relations.”

Marysol and Mike spend a lot of time training their staff on techniques to launder clothing properly and carefully. The machines they use are commercial grade and do a better job of cleaning items than residential washers. “The result is that colors are more vibrant, and the whites are brighter,” says Marysol. “We are very careful to separate fabrics and colors before washing and pay attention to the appropriate water and drying temperatures based on the type of garment.”

Commercial accounts make up a significant portion of their business. “We provide wash and fold service for customers such as Airbnb’s, boutique hotels, restaurants, healthcare companies and spas throughout Miami-Dade County,” says Marysol. “Same day service is available seven days a week.”

“I want to be the Nordstrom of laundry,” she says. “When a customer picks up their laundry from us, it is exactly the way I would want my own to be, clean and smelling beautiful.”
