Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and the Department of Environmental Resources Management (DERM) invite residents and visitors to Baynanza’s Biscayne Bay Cleanup Day on Apr. 11, the county’s largest community cleanup of Biscayne Bay and other waterways.
The cleanup culminates Miami-Dade County’s Baynanza, a tribute to the beauty and significance of Biscayne Bay. Now in its 44th year, Baynanza offered more than 60 events in March and April inviting residents across the county to experience, protect and help restore Biscayne Bay.
“In Miami-Dade County, our environment is our economy, our well-being and our future. When we understand these connections, it helps us better protect our natural resources, like our beloved Biscayne Bay,” said Mayor Levine Cava. “Our bay is not only the Blue Heart of our community and the famous backdrop to countless movies and music videos, it’s also vital to our economy, generating $64 billion locally each year.”
For the first time, Baynanza’s Biscayne Bay Cleanup Day will be held in all 13 County Commission districts to reflect Miami-Dade’s full countywide commitment to protecting Biscayne Bay and its connected waterways. This signature event at 33 locations expects to mobilize approximately 5,000 volunteers, including Miami-Dade County and municipal officials, schools, nonprofits, Scout troops, and diverse community organizations.
DERM director Loren Parra lauded the scope of this year’s cleanup.
“From Miami Gardens to Homestead, and from Miami Beach to Hialeah, we all depend on Biscayne Bay,” Parra said. “This makes Baynanza the perfect opportunity to show our love for our bay by protecting its beauty and helping restore it.”
Visit miamidade.gov/baynanza to register for Baynanza’s Biscayne Bay Cleanup Day on Saturday, Apr. 11, from 9 a.m. to noon at 33 locations countywide. Participants will receive a coveted commemorative Baynanza 2026 T-shirt, water, and cleanup supplies, along with practical environmental tips from county and community partners. Young people can sign up to receive community service hours.
