Miami International GuitART Festival Returns in February 2024

FIU Wertheim School of Music presents ninth edition of Miami International GuitART Festival at the Wertheim Performing Arts Center from February 16-25, 2024. The festival has been presenting an extraordinary group of artists from Latin America and around the world. After the huge success of past eight editions since 2016, the 2024 festival will celebrate Miami’s Latinx heritage in the upcoming ninth edition with 11 concerts, 6 masterclass/workshops, 5 lectures, and a luthiers expo.

The first weekend of the festival includes two concerts: Latin American Folk Blend featuring Venezuelan musicians Saul Vera (bandola, mandolin), Hector Molina (cuatro, guitar), and Luciana Kube (cuatro, voice) on February 17 and Anatolian Ensemble on February 18, featuring virtuoso Turkish musicians on kemençe (traditional Turkish bowed instrument), violin, and cello, accompanied by the festival director Dr. Mesut Özgen on guitar. The festival will continue through February 25 with such world class artists as virtuoso Peruvian guitarist Jorge Caballero, Cuban guitarists Rafael Padron and Laura Mazon Franqui, Marco Battaglia (Italy), Koh Kazama (Japan/USA), Gradus Jazz Trio (Spain), Los Hermanos Calero (Colombia), and Robert Trent (Radford University).
