Led by the impressive pitching of starter Tate DeRias, solid relief from Carson Fischer, and a strong closing performance by Brian Walters, the Cardiac Kids showcased their dominance. Dorian Gonzalez’s outstanding defensive play and Daniel Cuvet’s timely hitting played crucial roles in clinching Miami’s second consecutive ACC series sweep, keeping their fans on the edge of their seats until the very last out.

Tate struggled through a challenging first inning, throwing 25 pitches and finding himself in hot water as he loaded the bases with consecutive walks. This allowed Boston to take the lead, a lead they maintained until the 8th inning, where they added another run in the 5th thanks to a lead-off home run from Colin Larson.

Carson Fisher entered the game to start the 6th inning, decisively quashing any hopes of Boston building a lead following their 5th inning home run. He dominated the mound, dispatching the Eagle hitters in order during his two innings, before handing the ball to Brian. Meanwhile, Miami stunned the Boston fans by transforming a two-run deficit into a 3-2 lead.

Miami, down 2-0 as they entered the 8th inning and desperately seeking a hit, ignited the rally with a single from Jake. Max capitalized on an error by the second baseman, who fumbled the ball in the relentless wind—a challenge that plagued both teams throughout the game. Daniel stepped into the batter’s box, poised to change the whole dynamics of the game. With the count at 0-2, Daniel unleashed a powerful fly ball soaring towards the right field pole, narrowly avoiding contact with it. Boston fans stood in disbelief as their two-run lead evaporated into a one-run deficit.

With a one-run lead, Brian was given the baton to conserve the advantage. Two key defensive plays became crucial in securing the win: the first by Jake, who executed a double play to end the 8th inning, and the defensive play of the game by Dorian in the 9th. These plays sealed the Eagles’ fate as the SWEEP was finalized with a thrilling late rally from Miami for a 3-2 win.

In a fiercely contested game, Miami’s offense decisively capitalized in the 8th inning, shifting the entire balance of the match. Jake Ogden set the tone with a 3-for-5 performance, including a powerful double. However, the undeniable star of the game was Daniel, who executed a game-changing play that secured Miami’s victory. Daniel also hit a double along with a home run, totaling an impressive 3 RBIs. Fabio Peralta is clearly breaking out of his slump with a solid 2-for-4 performance.

The starting rotation and bullpen have been exceptionally impressive throughout the weekend. The defense has strengthened significantly, showcasing that the team has decisively turned the page. Now, our focus must be on winning the crucial mid-week games that are vital for our post-season consideration.

The team returns to the Light next Friday for a crucial series against another ranked opponent: North Carolina State. The scheduled start time is 7:00PM
