Miami Veterinary Specialists, South Florida’s leading specialty and emergency veterinary hospital, received a one-of-a-kind artwork by Noel Kassewitz, commissioned by Jungle Island to express the park’s gratitude for all the work done by MVS surgeons, Dr. Alavaro Larin and Dr. Mark Wosar, for Peanut, the orangutan. In the piece, Peanut is pictured in front of a CT Scan with her hand outstretched towards the hand of a doctor as if asking for help. Help that she received from the team at Miami Veterinary Specialists.
Earlier this year, Peanut was brought to MVS when Jungle Island veterinarians noticed she was lethargic and not eating or going to the bathroom. After running various tests, the team at MVS saw that she had an intestinal obstruction that needed to be taken care of immediately. Drs. Larin and Wosar proceeded to perform the life-saving operation, removing her obstruction, then reattaching her intestines. Peanut recovered successfully from the operation.
