Make time for music this year! Join the City of Coral Gables and the Arthur B. McBride Sr. Family Foundation for a concert series at McBride Plaza on Miracle Mile beginning Thursday, Feb. 2 through Thursday, April 6 for Music at McBride Plaza, the Downtown Music Series featuring the University of Miami (UM) Frost School of Music.
The Downtown Music Series is designed to offer young musicians studying at UM’s Frost School of Music the opportunity to showcase their talents in a setting easily accessible to businesspeople, residents, and visitors. The musicians go through a rigorous selection process auditioning for faculty who then select the top six groups to perform. The final group of musicians for the series typically represents a wide variety of musical genres which makes each concert a unique and wonderful experience for all.
“We are always looking for opportunities to create experiences to promote Downtown Coral Gables,” said Mayor Vince Lago. “It’s great to welcome the public to Miracle Mile and give them the opportunity to listen to up-and-coming musicians from a world-renowned music school.”
What: Six free concerts open to the public with performances by UM Frost School of Music musicians.
Where: McBride Plaza, 150 Miracle Mile
Time: 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
When: Thursdays, February 2, 9, 23; March 2, 23; and April 6
“Collaborating with the City of Coral Gables and the Frost School of Music has been wonderful,” said Barbara Tria, of Coral Pine Real Estate, who created the series. “It’s exciting to create this educational opportunity and present students’ music to the public courtesy of the generosity of the Arthur B. McBride Sr. Family Foundation, the City of Coral Gables and the Coral Gables Welcome Center.”
