The Coral Gables Woman’s Club’s monthly Gringo Bingo fundraisers for numerous charities returns on Tuesday, Sept. 24, with proceeds being shared with the National Alopecia Areata Foundation.
More revenue to directly benefit NAAF will add some fun that night with a silent auction coordinated by Deirdre Nero. Bay 13 Brewery & Kitchen offers ample space for this expanded affair that always gets great community support.
Deirdre, who lives with this condition, has been an amazing champion for the foundation over the years and, in fact, this is not NAAF’s first Gringo Bingo. NAAF’s first event with Coral Gables Woman’s Club came early when the event was being held at Clutch Burger and has been an annual event since 2019 having raised more than $100,000 for multiple charities. This was the brainchild of Steven Bradley who recruited this writer to work with him.
After a first successful event, we decided to continue them every month and to work with Coral Gables Woman’s Club to distribute funds to charitable efforts. The rest is history. To reserve space for the Sept. 24 Gringo Bingo, send email to gloria@cnews.net.
In other happenings, the Coral Gables Bar and Coral Gables Rotarians recently held their joint mixer at La Pata Gorda. These mixers, held the second Wednesday of the month, travel to different restaurants and serve as a mini fundraiser. Judges are invited at no charge while members pay $15 and guests pay $30. While the Gables Bar also has various other events including an Installation Gala conducted on Sept. 7. For more info on that Bar visit Coralgablesbar.org.
As for Coral Gables Rotary, that club meets every Thursday for lunch at the Hyatt Regency Coral Gables and is dedicated to “Service Above Self” with numerous ongoing volunteer service projects that impact the local community and the world.
On the cultural front, the Frost School of Music is partnering with Coral Gables Woman’s Club to present a Jazz Night on Sept. 18, 7:30 p.m., at their clubhouse, 1001 E. Ponce de Leon Blvd., Coral Gables. Tickets are $30 per person or $52 for two people. Tickets include two drinks. Vendors will be there for food sales.
For info, visit gfwccoralgableswomansclub.org. Proceeds will benefit CGWC’s charitable work including the club’s free children’s dental clinic.
On the business scene, Coral Gables Chamber Trustee & GEM members enjoyed a recent reception at the beautiful new Belmont Bank & Trust. It was great to see Mark Trowbridge mingling with members and looking healthy again after a long struggle. Kudos to the chamber staff for carrying on when Mark and the Chamber needed them.
Speaking of business organizations, the oldest business networking group in the county, Profit Inc., recently held its monthly luncheon at Seasons 52. Miami’s Community Newspapers has been a proud member of this organization for decades and its current president, Carlos Ribero, of NEXT Media, even has a show at CN interviewing members of the group, a membership perk. This group meets the first Thursday of the month for a great lunch at 94th Aero Squadron with a get together for lunch at Seasons 52 on the third Thursday of the month at noon.
Until next time, share your time and talents, count your blessings, and make a difference.
