On Tuesday, November 11, 2025, Palmer Trinity School (PTS), in partnership with the Village of Palmetto Bay, honored more than 90 local veterans and their families at a special assembly and convocation followed by a breakfast with students, faculty and guests. The event featured special guest speakers and performances by the Palmer Trinity band and chorus and a presentation by the Miami-Dade Police Color Guard. Student speaker, senior and West Point applicant Reagan Stone, gave opening remarks.
“Honoring our veterans is more than a tradition—it is a powerful reminder of the values that unite us,” said Patrick Roberts, Head of School. “Each year our students gain a deeper understanding of service, sacrifice and the strength of community.”
The morning’s keynote address was delivered by Dr. Toshiba L. Mitchell, a distinguished veteran and Program Director at LSF Miami Bridge Youth & Family Services. A nationally recognized educator and tireless advocate in the fight against human trafficking and child exploitation, Dr. Mitchell draws on more than a decade of military service across the U.S. Army, Active-Duty Air Force, and Air Force Reserve. Her powerful remarks, rooted in personal experience and unwavering commitment to service, captivated an audience of more than 1,000 attendees.
Other special guests included Village of Palmetto Bay Mayor Karyn Cunningham and Village Manager Colonel Nicholas Marano.
The celebration also included a moving Veterans Day Circle, where students from grades six through eight and 10 through 12 assembled handmade poppies and “planted” them in front of the school chapel, forming a commemorative art installation. Ninth-grade students contributed by way of their annual Poppy Pin Project, creating pins that were shared with guests and used to adorn the Veterans Breakfast, adding a personal and heartfelt touch to the morning’s tribute.
