The Historic Preservation of Coral Gables Association (HPACG) awarded two $1,000 scholarships at the recent University of Miami School of Architecture Honors Ceremony. The scholarship winners were chosen by the SOA in recognition of their proven academic achievement and interest in the area of historic preservation. Current HPACG President Ann Goodman and member Maria Alicia Ajit presented the scholarships to Francela Veliz and Talia Cires. Dean Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk and Jorge L. Hernandez, Professor and Coordinator of the Historic Preservation Certificate Program, were also in attendance and joined the presentation.
“HPACG is proud to support students who are passionate about historic preservation. We wish them well in their future endeavors and hope they continue to pursue their interests,” said Ann Goodman, HPACG president.
The Historic Preservation Association of Coral Gables is a non-profit Florida corporation founded in 1991. The mission of the Association is to support an environment in which its members and all community citizens can understand, appreciate, exchange information and live with Coral Gables history. The Association promotes the understanding of the importance of historic resources and their preservation.
