Coral Gables’ Dining Gem Introduces Saturday Brunch & New Menu Choices

Due to popular demand, Piripi – known for its stunning atmosphere and stellar cuisine – will be extending its crowd-pleasing Sunday Brunch “Espectacular” to Saturdays. Beginning this weekend, Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 11AM, the restaurant’s expanded brunch service will showcase recently appointed Executive Chef Angelina Bastidas’ twist on traditional Spanish cuisine with a three-course prix fixed menu priced at $27 per person. Effective immediately, brunch will be offered on both Saturdays and Sundays.

Diners can start the meal off with their choice of garbanzo salad – peperonata, cherry tomatoes and red wine vinaigrette; gazpacho – cucumber, red pepper and tomato; or the smoothie of the day served with a fruit salad. Main plates on offer include serrano benedict – crispy serrano, baguette, arugula and manchego hollandaise; egg white frittata – peppers, caramelized onion and spinach, served with toast and potatoes; and scrambled eggs with a choice of bacon, chorizo or shrimp (for an additional $3), served with toast and potatoes. Diners can then indulge in one of Piripi’s sweet treats like the fruit crêpe – dark chocolate, whipped cream and basil; apple sliced pound cake with creamy butter sauce; and classic Spanish dessert torrijas – café con leche cream and cocoa nib. In keeping with the true meaning of Piripi – Spanish slang for “happy” or “tipsy” – brunch-goers can enjoy bottomless sangria and mimosas for an additional $17 per person.

As Chef Bastidas’ influence on the menu continues to grow, new dinner menu choices also abound at the Coral Gables dining destination. The new dishes continue to stay true to the restaurant’s Spanish influences, while highlighting unique flavors. Fresh tapas including chistorra “Piripi” – pan fried chistorra, crispy potato, sous vide egg and manchego foam; gambas al ajillo – Key West pink shrimp, lobster sherry glaze, parsley and crispy garlic; and pimientos Padrón – fried shishitos, shaved idiazabal, Pedro Ximenez reduction, range from $8 to $14. Delectable appetizers on deck include the stuffed calamari – stuffed squid, citrus, piquillo puree and green goddess sofrito ($12); ensalada de remolacha – roasted beets, sherry vinaigrette, candied almonds and drunken goat cheese ($14); and pork belly – confit pork belly, poached raisins, brandy glaze and shaved summer vegetable salad ($12). Larger plates including the pan roasted chicken – crispy skinned chicken, heirloom carrots, potato foam and confit mushroom ($19) and mejillones escabeche – PEI mussels, steamed and marinated in escabeche, and served with house-made pickles and grilled breads ($14), round out the menu.

The restaurant has also unveiled a new Happy Hour bar menu of discounted tapas and enchanting cocktails with a Piripi twist, available nightly from 4PM to 7PM; and Señorita Wednesdays, when ladies can enjoy complimentary bubbly from 5PM to 8PM.

Piripi is located at the Village of Merrick Park, 320 San Lorenzo Avenue in Coral Gables. The restaurant’s hours of operations are Sunday 11AM – 9PM, Monday-Wednesday 11:30AM – 10PM, Thursday 11:30AM – 11:00PM and Friday 11:30AM – midnight and Saturday 11AM – midnight.
