The Porsche 964, which is also known as the Porsche 911, was designed by Benjamin Jimson. It sold between 1989 and 1994 and displayed significant style changes over the previous Porsche 911 models. The most noticeable of these style changes remains the bumpers, which appear more integrated than those of the earlier models. Porsche’s design also included Tiptronic automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive as possible options.

Car experts considered the 964 as being 85 percent newer than the Carrera 3.2, its predecessor. The first of the 964s came with all-wheel drive. Later editions added a rear-wheel drive in 1990. Variants of the sports car included a coupe, Targa or Cabriolet version. The 964 Carrera, which was the last generation of the model sold, had a removable Targa roof until 2011. Some of the other changes for the Porsche 964 included:

• A naturally aspirated engine with a flat-6 displacement of 3.6 liters.
• A substantially revised suspension using shock absorbers. MacPherson struts, and coil springs.
• ABS brakes and power steering.
• Aerodynamic bumpers and fog lights.
• A spoiler that rose at speeds over 50 mph and became flush with the vehicle at lower rates.
• A revised interior.
• An automatic climate control system.
• An advanced warning system that notified the driver of possible car malfunctions.

Engine features of the Porsche 964 included:

• The engine displacement of 3, 000 cc.
• Air and oil cooled horizontally opposed rear-mounted, dry-sump engine.
• Six cylinders.
• Electronic fuel injection.
• Aluminum alloy block and heads.
• Single overhead cam.
• 184 kW/247hp/250 PS at 6,100 rpm.
• Torque of 310 N.m/228lb. Ft at 4,800 rpm.
• Engine speed limits of 6, 7000 rpm.

The top speed of this Porsche averages 160 miles per hour and it goes 0-60 mph in 5.5 seconds using a manual transmission> It has a coefficient drag of .32. This Porsche uses about 24 mpg of fuel.
