Coral Gables Tennis Operations supervisor Robert Gomez recently was presented the 2016 Facility Manager of the Year Award by the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) Florida Division, the governing body that regulates the sport.
Gomez supervises the tennis programs at both the William H. Kerdyk Biltmore and Salvadore Park Tennis Centers. A tennis professional for 30 years, who has been a city employee for close to 10 years, Gomez was recognized for his passion and dedication for supporting the growth of tennis in Coral Gables at a professional level.
The USPTA recognizes outstanding individuals at an annual conference, delivering awards across different categories, including coaches, players, facility operators and more, to those who have shown a passion and dedication for supporting the growth of tennis at a professional level.
“I want to thank many of you for helping me become a better supervisor over the years through your assistance and example,” Gomez said, shortly after winning the distinction. “I am proud of this award because I was being judged by my peers and we stood out among the many tennis centers/clubs in Florida.
“Thanks to the help of my staff and administrators who provide daily support. I know that without your help it would not have been possible,” he added.
