The Rotary Club of Coral Gables has had a busy social and community outreach calendar with activities every week throughout the summer months. Aside from volunteering to do bingo at the Veterans Hospital on a regular basis, tackling bay cleanup and other hands-on efforts, this dynamic club also enjoys social events.Gables Rotarians and prospective members gathered on Aug. 24 for a membership reception hosted by Crave at the Village of Merrick Park with more than 40 guests enjoying the ambience of this relatively new Gables eatery.
On hand to welcome the guests were Crave’s general manager Clifton Carmody along with Crave’s Group Sales and Marketing manager, Christina Ward, who donated gift certificates to help the club raise charitable dollars. Guests at that event included Annette and Walter Alvarez , Fred and Annette Baddour, Keith and Angela Phillips, Sally Baumgartner, Andrea Fusero, Deena Bell Llewellyn, Cal Rosenbaum, Lorraine Sheldon, Bill Martinez, and many more.
The affair was followed by Coral Gables Rotary’s Fifth Friday event held on Aug. 31 at Snow’s Jewelers’ new location on Miracle Mile. Yet another raffle with a $500 gift certificate raised even more money for charitable giving that evening thanks to Rotarian Eddie Snow’s generous gift. Among the many seen enjoying this social with club president Walter Alvarez were Hadley and Jennifer Williams, Nancy Martini (lucky raffle winner) and Greg Martini, Yolanda Woodbridge, Terry Long, Bonnie Blaire, Joan Reitsma, Debi and John Swain, Steven Spann, Jerry Santeiro and Carol Brock.
That same evening, Zielo, an incredibly beautiful new restaurant on Giralda next to the Museum Annex, held a party to celebrate its opening with more than 100 guests enjoying the Italian Peruvian fusion cuisine. The all-white décor accented with royal blue accessories and glassware presents an elegant setting that is both romantic and impressive. They even added a small private dining room in the back complete with a fireplace for a truly special event.
On hand to welcome guests were owner Gonzalo Morales and general manager Giulio Cecchi. Among the partygoers seen enjoying the affair were Gonzalo’s aunt Beatriz Divo, visiting from Venezuela, as well as Raul Casares, Florence Laygre and Alex Rigo.
