Running for election to City Commission Group II : Jose Valdés-Fauli
Jose Valdés-Fauli

Jose Valdés-Fauli is running for election to the Group II seat of the Coral Gables City Commission in the Apr. 13 municipal election.

Valdés-Fauli is a Coral Gables resident with extensive experience in banking, finance and economics. His company, Vivendi Ventures Inc., is a personal investment company based in Downtown Coral Gables.

“FDR operationalized his vision for the first 100 days of his four-year term in the 1930s; this facilitated a compelling ‘call to action’ during a turbulent time. By declaring a strong start, a chief executive boldly states their strategic vision. In our case, these election results will establish the priorities, practices, and vision for the next era in our city. As your commissioner, I pledge to represent the best of our community and lead us into the future by leaning into my financial expertise and years of community activism.

“For Coral Gables, my vision is to continue pushing us to be one of the best cities to live, work, and play within South Florida. As a retired banker, community volunteer, and civic activist, I value community relationships and partnerships to expand a dialogue. My message of ‘Sharing Your Vision’ is meant to emulate my goal of facilitating conversations and collaborative governance. I pledge to listen and learn throughout my entire four year term and serve collaboratively with groups, residents, and local leaders.

He is interested in public safety and city finances, appreciates traffic calming efforts and ensuring that aesthetics are prioritized and maintained. He values zoning and regulatory laws, but wants to ensure an active discussion and mutual respect.

“Beyond all else, I believe our shared vision is one of resiliency, prosperity, and equitable living. Coral Gables is a community filled with resilient people and businesses, but to be prosperous, it must be guided by someone who will prioritize equitability. When FDR spoke of his first 100 days, he believed he could guide America out of the ashes of the Great Depression, and I believe we are in a similar situation as we exit the COVID-19 pandemic.

In my first 100 days, I will highlight the true resiliency of Coral Gables.”
