Rep. María Elvira Salazar (R-FL) applauds the establishment of the South Florida Climate Resilience Tech Hub, a partially Miami-Dade County-based center for innovation to advance coastal infrastructure solutions in the region. This will ensure Miami continues to lead the nation in innovation and economic development.
“Miami is ground zero for sea-level rise, and we continue to lead the charge in developing resilient infrastructure,” said Rep. Salazar. “Miami is home to more than 100 tech companies. We attract world-class talent and researchers—the establishment of a Tech Hub in Miami ensures we continue leading in innovation and technological advancement, while creating new jobs, growing our economy, and promoting national security.”
The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration announced the creation of the “Tech Hubs Program” to strengthen U.S. economic and national security with investments in regions across the country to help us remain globally competitive.
As one of the best cities in the United States to invest and invent, Miami is one of 31 regional tech hubs to receive funding for South Florida Climate Resilience. Building off the region’s unique combination of resources, this Tech Hub will jumpstart innovation by developing, commercializing, and scaling critical coastal infrastructure.
In Congress, Rep. Salazar is a long-time advocate for climate resilience and is leading the effort to create a National Resilience Strategy through the National Climate Adaptation and Resilience Act (NCARS). She has also secured millions of dollars in funding for critical infrastructure in Miami.
