Cocoplum Woman’s Club member Sara Warren was announced as recipient of District 11’s Volunteer of the Year award during a recent meeting of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs District 11.
Other nominees included Anne Biegen, Cutler Ridge; Lina Duque, Coconut Grove; Clora Adkins, Miami Woman’s Club, and Nadya Gribanova, Doral/West Dade Woman’s Club.
Shirley Pardon, District 11 membership chair, recognized the nominees and introduced Warren as the recipient lauding her volunteer efforts that included spearheading many noteworthy programs and projects. From bringing speakers on various topics to collecting articles for residents of Lotus House as part of GFWC National Day of Service, she excelled.
Warren collected donations for Wreaths Across America for veterans, organized welcome back celebrations for Honor Flight participants and supported the numerous events of other District 11 clubs.
In addition, Warren will be attending the FL GFWC Flight to Honor as a veteran. She now will compete with other Volunteer of the Year nominees from around the state at the GFWC Florida convention in May.
