The tantalizing aroma of seasonings and spices will permeate the air at this year’s South Florida Emerald Society’s Irish Stew Cook-Off on Sunday, Jan. 28, 1 p.m., at the Miami Yacht Club.
Round up your friends and family members to enjoy a fun-filled day that includes sampling decadent Irish fare, a little friendly competition and sweeping views of Biscayne Bay. Trophies will be awarded to first, second and third place finishers, as well as to the cook with the best presentation.
“Bringing the community together to enjoy a taste of Ireland is a wonderful opportunity for locals to experience our Irish heritage at a venue that is distinctly Miami,” said Mark Donnelly, chair of the Irish Stew Cook-Off committee.
Tickets are $18 for adults and $5 for children in cash or checks made payable to the South Florida Emerald Society. Members and cooks will receive two tickets for beer, wine, or soda.
If interested in becoming a chef or attending the “Irish Stew Cook-Off,” RSVP to Mark Donnelly at cmd590@comcast.net or call him at 305-794-7499 for entry rules and event information.
The South Florida Emerald Society was founded in 1952 to promote the Irish and Irish-American cultures. Most known for its St. Patrick’s Day Festival in Coral Gables — scheduled for Mar. 10, 2018 — this organization has monthly socials, special events, participation in the Key Biscayne 4th of July Parade, Halfway to St. Paddy’s Day Pub Crawl in September and its annual Christmas in Ireland Celebration in December.
