Spring calendars are packed with great events for all to enjoy.

Mother’s Day is right around the corner and there is still time to RSVP for Coral Gables Woman’s Club (CGWC) Centennial Mother’s Day Tea on Saturday, May 13, 1-4 p.m. This fourth annual tea is always a lavish affair you will not want to miss.

Event chair Rita Tennyson promises a spectacular afternoon of food, entertainment, and bubbly with an opportunity to shop for that perfect gift for mom. The club is opening both ballrooms, 1001 and 1009 E. Ponce de Leon Blvd. One side will provide guests a place to enjoy a “Sip and Shop” with lots of great gift items for purchase and, of course, bubbly.

The other side will have entertainment by Frost School of Music’s Purslane Trio, food, tea and more bubbly.

This is a perfect way to celebrate with your daughters, moms, friends, and family and all for a great cause, Coral Gables Woman’s Club’s Children’s Dental Clinic. This clinic provides more than $200,000 in free dental services annually to children of the working poor.

Tickets are $125 for adults and may be purchased on Eventbrite. RSVP by Apr. 13 and tickets are only $100. To reserve, go to https://www.eventbrite.com/e/590175680347.

A Safe Haven for Newborns (ASHFN) will hold its sixth annual Tee Off for a Cause Golf Tournament on May 19, at Trump National Doral Resorts Red Tiger golf course with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Golfers will enjoy a day on the links followed by a reception, silent auction and great prizes. To register and/or learn more about this amazing organization, visit asafehavenfornewborns.org.

For those not familiar with ASHFN, it was founded 22 years ago by Nick Silverio who works 24/7 at no salary to help mothers and expectant mothers in crisis. Recently, they welcomed the 370th baby that was lawfully left in the arms of caring firefighters at a Florida fire station.

Firefighters ensured both mother and the baby were healthy and mother was offered additional support and resources with her identity protected as the law allows. That healthy baby was delivered to a local hospital and was placed for adoption with a loving forever family.

On Mar. 28, the Junior Orange Bowl members and guests convened at JohnMartins for their annual installation. Lisa Albizu-Vazquez was installed as next year’s Jr. OB president, taking the gavel from Immediate past president Grant Souviron. Past president Marti Bueso was on hand to officiate over the installation of officers and board.

Among those installed were president-elect, Michael Green; vice president, Kevin Arnoux; vice president, PJ Brown; treasurer, Marco Zuniga; secretary, Nicolas Cabrera; Board-at-Large, Michelle Pelaez, Claudia Uribe, Steven Gonzalez and Lucy Foerster.

Among the many others enjoying the affair were past president John Admire and wife, Pam; past president Chuck Little, and Brittany Bassant, CEO-Chamber South.

Yet another great event coming up this month will be the Spoken Soul Showcase with Vol. 15 Stories from the Womb (@spokensoulfest), presented by the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County and Spoken Soul Festival.

This showcase celebrates 15 years and promises to offer an inspiring and immersive, multidisciplinary spoken word experience. The event will spotlight the voices of South Florida women and feature four poets, including teaching artists who work with incarcerated women from the Miami-based Beyond the Bars program and women who are part of Spoken Soul. Save the date, Apr. 21, at 7 p.m., for this event to be held in the Carnival Studio Theater.

Admission to Spoken Soul Vol. 15 Stories from the Womb is free. Reserve passes online at arshtcenter.org or by calling the Adrienne Arsht Center box office at 305- 949-6722.

In other news, Young Entrepreneurs, grades 3-10, have a wonderful opportunity to participate in “Produced with Purpose” fourth annual Young Entrepreneurs Showcase on Saturday, May 20, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Miami International Mall.

Produced with Purpose was founded by Leila Hilliard, who started her own business at age 10 and wanted to inspire others to follow her lead. With the help of Leila’s teachers and her parents, the Young Entrepreneurs Showcase grew from an idea to a reality allowing young kids to brainstorm an idea, develop a business, and launch it to the community. This event is free to the public, and you can support our Young Entrepreneurs by attending the event and purchasing from their businesses on that day.

Registration is open for any Kid Bosses from grades 3 to 10 who would like to participate.

All business categories are welcome and encouraged to register. More than 40 businesses have participated in Young Entrepreneurs Showcase year to year. Join the fun as Kid Bosses display their creativity and sell their original products and services that are usually sold year-round. Participants are responsible for their booth setup, sales transactions, and interactions with customers. Great training ground for these young people. Kudos to Leila and her organization for helping produce a new generation of entrepreneurs.

Until next time, share your talents and make a difference.
