Coral Gables Police Department welcomes new officers.

Thanks to the efforts of a strategic and dedicated recruitment team, the Coral Gables Police Department has the lowest vacancy rate in 10 years.

In 2016, among strong competition from other law enforcement agencies from all over the country looking for the same talent, Coral Gables received only 387 job applications, resulting in 11 officers being hired.

In 2017, after a year-long effort of networking and recruitment in all 50 states, having a consistent presence in 584 colleges and universities, and implementing an aggressive advertising and marketing recruitment campaign, the City of Coral Gables quadrupled the number of applications received to 1,447. By end of 2017, 24 police officers were hired, leaving the year-end vacancy to only one officer position.
