Tere Pujol Burns, lead teacher of the International Studies Magnet Program at Sunset Elementary School, 5120 SW 72 St., has been named Magnet Schools of America 2013 National Teacher of the Year and was presented the award on May 7 during the national conference which took place in Tulsa, OK. The award recognizes an outstanding, dedicated fulltime teacher who exemplifies excellence in academic achievement through innovative programs that promote equity, diversity, and academic excellence for students in Magnet Schools.
