There’s something special about birthdays: they epitomize tradition–not a year goes by that we don’t celebrate. The Globe holds a similar kind of nostalgic tradition, in fact, I can’t remember a time when it wasn’t around. And that special, Miami-iconic quality just adds a layer of connectivity to celebrations at this magical place, in which we remember the last time we stood within those walls and knew we would never forget being there again, together. This special magic was prevalent at this writer’s birthday celebration this summer, when the Globe truly lived up to its name, as jet setters from all over the world- New Zealand, Europe, the Americas (all 3 of them), Israel, South Africa and beyond gathered for an epic dance party. Influencers from the worlds of fashion, media, art, design, medicine, design, business and civic leaders enjoyed top shelf cocktails, signature bites and an international playlist by Rafael Rodriguez of Uplight Miami in the exclusive and sexy Black Room of The Globe. Guests danced for nearly 5 hours straight- stopping briefly to snap a photo or take a sip before being re-summoned to the dance floor.
A few guests weighed in on what makes The Globe magnificent. Miami “It” girl, contributor to Indulge and Selecta magazines and editor for GB Living, Erin Newberg shared the following thoughts.
“As far as I knew, The Globe had always been a Gables locals’ spot for after work cocktails, lunches and beyond. I had not been in years but drove over to celebrate my girlfriend Mary Jo’s birthday. I swear, it was one of the best nights I have had in ages. The private room where she hosted her friends (also known as Miami’s most important, chic tastemakers) I never knew existed. What a surprise! The venue was simply perfect and now that I know it is there and available for intimate gatherings, I will certainly recommend to friends who are looking for a great spot to host.”
“I like the old Masters’ paintings in the interior, the warm familiar feeling of the place,” mused world-renowned designer, Rene Ruiz, of Rene by RR, “It was a great night with great music, drinks and friends and it was fabulous to rediscover The Globe like in the old days, familiar faces and good service.”
Toys for Boys Editor in Chief, Jilian Sanz concurred. “Time seems to stand still when we visit The Globe, a place steeped in tradition, that holds so many incredible memories and where for years upon years connects us to those most special to us.”
Perhaps it’s The Globe’s chic, vintage elegance, reminiscent of fin de siècle Paris or old New York; or that it has been owned and operated by the same family for more than 20 years, that makes a visit unforgettable. The Globe is a multifaceted gathering place: an intimate restaurant and bar, a speakeasy, a vibrant happy hour locale and the premier elegant private party and event space in South Florida, boasting two rooms for dancing, dining and creative gatherings. From the moment you walk beneath the iconic neon sign, inspired by London’s Savoy Hotel, into the gorgeous, recently remodeled dining room, you will be transported to a bygone era, and treated to exceptional service, fine dining and a familiar and welcoming ambience. The Globe also boasts one of Miami’s finest and longest running live jazz nights.
Owners, Daniel and Lorraine Guiteras take pride in The Globe’s iconic role in Miami history. Daniel shared, “After 22 short years, the most rewarding aspect of The Globe, for Lorraine and I, is hearing, often, what a significant supporting role it has played in the experiences and memories of our customers. That’s incredibly satisfying for doing what we love!”
