In honor of The Palace Coral Gables’ 10th anniversary, a three-day “Walk the Mile,” celebration was held recognizing the city where The Palace’s residents live, play and thrive. “Walk the Mile” celebrates the vibrant lifestyle provided by the urban environment of the City of Coral Gables where they enjoy local stores, restaurants, entertainment and cultural venues.
To kick off the celebration, Coral Gables Mayor Vince Lago and Vice Mayor Rhonda Anderson presented the community’s founders, Helen and Jacob Shaham, a proclamation recognizing the incredible partnership between the City of Coral Gables and The Palace Group and the community’s 10 years of excellence.
The unique collaboration between The Palace Group and the City offered the opportunity for The Palace to provide housing to the community’s most important people, the grandparents, who are the backbone of the community. The Mayor expressed his gratitude to the Shahams for The Palace’s contribution to the City Beautiful where residents build memories for a lifetime.
In accepting the proclamation, Jacob Shaham shared with the audience of residents and guests that he had always wanted to create the first urban Senior Living Community in Coral Gables. He acknowledged the residents who live at The Palace and recognized the dedication of the enthusiastic team of employees who serve the residents with their hearts.
Twenty-six of The Palace’s founding residents were acknowledged during the gala opening reception. Local stores, restaurants, service providers, entertainment and cultural venues were invited to participate in “Walk the Mile.”
The “Walk the Mile” event was a collaboration with The Palace and the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce and recognized the importance of community and neighbors. Photographic banners were created as part of the event featuring Palace residents will be on display in various business locations in the city throughout the month of August.
The three-day celebration included presentations by Gables Museum and Actor’s Playhouse as well as a vendor street fair.
