Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
In 1982,  the University of Miami fielded arguably the greatest roster of quarterbacks ever on one college football team. Pictured below from left to right: Vinny Testaverde, Kyle Vanderwende, Jim Kelly, quarterback coach Earl Morrall, Mark Richt and Bernie Kosar. When former Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator Howard Schnellenberger was hired as UM head coach in 1979, he brought a pro-style offense and established a quarterback-friendly culture.
Among Schnellenberger’s most important hires, was bringing in Earl Morrall, who tutored UM quarterbacks from 1979 to 1982. .Schnellenberger was Morrall’s offensive coordinator with the 1972 Miami Dolphins. Together, they helped establish Miami as Quarterback U.
