On Saturday, November 5, 2016 from 11am to 5pm, theCoral Gables Museum invites the public to the South Florida Collectibles Show & Sale. History buffs, collectors and locals will have a chance to meet the top 10 collectors of South Florida memorabilia and even purchase pieces from them to start a collection of their own. From maps and postcards to restaurant china and railroad artifacts, this showcase will be the first of its kind in South Florida.
The idea came from Ron Gabor, a popular collector who has lent historic artifacts from his private collection to the Coral Gables Museum for numerous exhibits. Mr. Gabor conceived of an idea to bring together some of the best collectors of South Florida memorabilia and share these amazing collections with our Miami-Dade County audience. Mr. Gabor invited vendors from around the Sunshine State to participate. Vendors include: John Bachmaier, Seth Bramson, Kenneth Breslauer, Bob Carr, Alan Crockwell, John Cheek, Steven Eisenstein, Ron and Nancy Gabor, Allan Magluta, and Larry Roberts.
“For anyone interested in South Florida history, this show is a must see. There will be items for sale that can only be found in museums and some you might not be able to find in any of the local historical museums. There will be items for every level of collector including those who just want a bit of history to display in their home or office. Whether it be FEC Railway or from any of the cities such as Coral Gables, Fulford, Homestead, Miami or Miami Beach. It will all be there,” states Mr. Gabor.
Coral Gables Museum’s executive director Caroline Parker Santiago jumped at the chance to host such an exciting event. “We have built an audience who appreciates history, who are proud to call themselves locals, and who are ready to find that special conversation piece for their living rooms or that one-of-a-kind gift for someone special. I’ll be there with my purse ready to shop,” says executive director Parker Santiago.
The Museum will be charging regular Museum admission for the event: $7 adults, $5 students and seniors, $3 children ages 6-12, Free for Museum members
