The City of Coral Gables is gearing up for a HallowGables celebration on Saturday, Oct. 28, complete with costume contests, a magic show, and thousands of pounds of candy to delight the whole family.
From 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., Miracle Mile will transform into a Halloween haven for the city’s “Trick-or-Treat on the Mile” event. Families are encouraged to come in costume and participate in an array of activities, including face painting, balloon artistry, book readings, and a magic show. Participating businesses along Miracle Mile will hand out candy to eager trick-or-treaters. This event is free to the public.
Scheduled Activities Include:
2 p.m.: “Stuart Little” at Actors’ Playhouse, 280 Miracle Mile. Special Buy One, Get One ticket offer. 2 – 5 p.m.: Museum Activation, 221 Miracle Mile
3 to 8 p.m.: Trick-or-Treat at participating businesses, while supplies last. (Look for the orange balloons)
3 p.m.: Doggie Halloween Costume Contest at Coral Gables Museum, 285 Aragon Ave. 3:30 p.m.: Face Painting, 100 Miracle Mile.
3:30 p.m.: Balloon Artists, 93 Miracle Mile.
3:30 p.m.: “Villains on Broadway” at Actors’ Playhouse, 280 Miracle Mile.
4 p.m.: Costume Parade at Actors’ Playhouse, 280 Miracle Mile.
5 p.m.: Magic Show at Miracle Mile & Le Jeune Plaza.
5 p.m.: Spooky Children’s Story Hour at Books & Books, 265 Aragon Ave.
Additionally, the widely attended Day of the Dead Celebration will occur on Oct. 28 from 4-9 p.m. across from Coral Gables City Hall, featuring music, dancing, and a selection of authentic Mexican cuisine. The celebration, organized by the Consulate of Mexico, lists the City of Coral Gables as one of its sponsors.
As fall sets in, locals and visitors can also witness the return of the much-acclaimed pumpkin arch at Giralda Plaza, displayed from Oct. 23 through Nov. 23.
