Tropical Audubon Society’s Go-Native Plant Sale, June 7
Tropical Honey, produced by resident bees, is available for purchase.

June is the ideal month to expand your native plantings because Mother Nature can do much of the watering for you. To make the most of rainy season, circle Saturday, June 7, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., for Tropical Audubon Society’s Go-Native Plant Sale, presented by Galloway Farm Nursery.

The much-anticipated annual event is staged on the conservation organization’s wooded Steinberg Nature Center grounds and hosted by master gardeners who will suggest the best plant types for your landscape and offer cultivation tips. Patrons also can pick up a free Bird-friendly Gardening Guide tailored to the region.

The bounty of native plants for sale will help attract and nurture birds, bees, butterflies, lady beetles, bats and other wildlife, and will transform your yard, patio or balcony into a thriving, low-maintenance pollinator-friendly habitat. For inspiration you can also visit the pollinator gardens and stroll the nature trails that thread the society’s Pine Rocklands and Tropical Hardwood Hammock demonstration forests.

BONUS activities: register for the Rain Barrel Workshop; learn about pollinators and plant identification; procure handcrafted tropical fruit jams and wild Tropical Honey produced by resident bees; buy exclusive bird note cards; acquire new or vintage books on birds and gardening; score Lenox Collection bird figurines for a song; purchase Feather Friendly window decals to save birds from fatal strikes; go on a self-guided bird walk, and picnic under the iconic chickee.
