The 33rd Annual University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame & Museum Celebrity Golf Tournament will take place on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at the Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables. Registration begins at 11 a.m. with a putting contest at 11:30, followed by a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

According to UM Sports Hall of Fame & Museum President-Elect Javy Rodriguez, between 15-25 Hall of Famers attend each year and all 36 foursomes sell out. Registration is open to the public and includes greens/cart fees, lunch, post-tournament awards reception and gifts such as shirt, hat and custom tournament bag. There will also be silent and live auctions.

“It’s always a win when Hurricanes come together for the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame Celebrity Golf Tournament. This tournament is more than golf – it’s about legacy, community and the Hurricane family,” says UM football Hall of Famer Greg Mark, who anchored the Canes’ defensive line from 1986-89.

Other Hall of Famers who frequently participate include longtime Canes Baseball Coach Jim Morris, Heisman Trophy winner Gino Torretta, Craig Erickson, Randal “The Thrill” Hill, Steve Walsh, Jack McClinton and David Gil.

“This tournament is important because it gives the athletes who put the school on the map the opportunity to reunite with other hall of famers and fans and then go to a UM game the next day and enjoy the whole weekend together,” says Rodriguez.

“It’s a family reunion,” adds Hall of Fame Vice President Spencer “Doc” Kellogg.

“The beauty of this tournament is how it brings Hurricanes from every era back together,” says UM basketball Hall of Famer Jack McClinton. “Once a Cane, always a Cane!”

“The golf tournament is a combination of great play on the greens, lots of fun and a staple of the community,” adds UM football Hall of Famer Randal Hill.

According to University of Miami Hall of Fame & Museum Executive Director John Routh, proceeds from the tournament are used to keep the facility running, since the organization is a non-profit. Admission is free to the public and the Hall of Fame & Museum is open from noon to 5 p.m. on weekdays.

“The entire day was well-organized, from start to finish. It was more than just a round of golf – it was a reminder of the strong bond we all share through the “U”, says UM alumnus Brian Grodin. “We shared a lot of laughs, relived old stories and created some new memories that we’ll be talking about for a long time.”

The Miami Hurricanes will play Louisville on October 17, the day after the tournament. For more information about the University of Miami Hall of Fame & Museum Celebrity Golf Tournament and to register, please visit canesgolf.com.
