In celebration of 22 years of impactful service, A Safe Haven for Newborns held the premiere of its documentary Uncle Nick at Actors’ Playhouse at the Miracle Theater on Aug. 24.
The film, that brought tears to many, shines a light on the remarkable journey of the organization and the profound impact it has had on countless lives. Guests enjoyed cocktails followed by the screening of the documentary during which the film, Uncle Nick, takes you on a journey through the founding of A Safe Haven for Newborns by Nick Silverio, affectionately known as “Uncle Nick.”
Created in loving memory of his late wife, whose life tragically was cut short by a speeding driver, the Gloria M. Silverio Foundation operates as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization committed to preventing infant abandonment.
Produced by Accord Productions of Miami, the documentary captures the evolution of A Safe Haven for Newborns from its humble beginnings to its extraordinary achievements.
With 379 saved babies and the assistance provided to countless distressed mothers, the foundation’s impact on reducing infant abandonment in Florida to nearly zero is nothing short of inspiring. It showcases how Nick Silverio transformed personal tragedy into a lifesaving mission.
Uncle Nick is not just a film; it’s a testament to human resilience, compassion, and the capacity to transform adversity into a force for good.
While this event served as a fundraiser, the organization’s upcoming gala is on Oct. 28.
