Approximately 900 students will graduate at the University of Miami’s fall 2012 commencement ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 13, 10 a.m., at the BankUnited Center, 1245 Dauer Dr. on UM’s Coral Gables campus.
Arun Sarin, KBE will be the commencement speaker. Sarin and Dr. Nasser Ibrahim Al-Rashid will receive honorary Doctor of Science, honoris causa degrees.
Sarin, a pioneer in the telecommunications industry, has played a major role breaking down the barriers to doing global business and revolutionizing the way people communicate locally and worldwide.
Al-Rashid, a world-renowned engineer, businessman and humanitarian has contributed greatly to improving medical research, education, and to providing the precious gift of sight.
During the ceremony, undergraduates, master’s degree candidates, and doctoral candidates from all of UM’s schools and colleges (except for Miller School of Medicine MD degrees) will be recognized by name and will walk across the stage to be congratulated by UM president Donna E. Shalala and their respective school’s dean.
