The University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame has announced a new name and new logo that will help the non-profit organization transition to its future as a sports history museum and a Hall of Fame….The University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame & Museum (the “UMSHoF&M”).
“Our new modern logo is a culmination of our re-branding and naming the Hall of Fame to include our new museum designation”, said UMSHoF&M President Mead McCabe. “Our collaboration with UM students at Orange Umbrella created a logo that incorporates a focus on our Hall of Fame members and our historical collection of UM sports memorabilia and artifacts.”
Stephen Moser, a member of the Hall’s Marketing Committee, spearheaded the new logo design and our collaboration with UM students at Orange Umbrella , a student-run communication consulting group in the University of Miami School of Communications. Our new logo replaces the logo developed at the Hall’s founding and redesigned in the 1980’s.
“I’m incredibly excited to share a newly revitalized Hall of Fame logo for our athletes and our community here at UM”, said Hall of Famer and board member Brett Romberg, who chairs the Hall’s Marketing Committee. “In designing this logo we took into account what it takes to achieve the honor of induction into the Hall of Fame along with highlighting what our athletic programs embody at The U… Power, Speed, Swag and Innovation.”
The UMSHoF&M’s main function will continue to be inducting the finest student-athletes, coaches and administrators who have represented The U. Its museum designation will broaden its audience through educational engagements and increase funding opportunities from philanthropic foundations, institutions and corporations.
In 1966, eight Miami-Dade Circuit Judges, all UM alumni, founded the UM Sports Hall of Fame to honor those student-athletes, coaches and administrators who have brought acclaim to the university through their achievements. The Tom Kearns Sports Hall of Fame Building, which opened in 1989, will continue to house sports artifacts and memorabilia from nearly 100 years of Hurricanes history for the public to view. All tax-deductible donations help the Hall of Fame & Museum in its mission to honor their legacy for generations of Canes fans to enjoy, as well enable the Hall to continue to support student-athletes’ scholarships through the Student Impact Fund of the Hurricane Club.
