Alejandra Zeledon is a joyful eight-year-old living with Down syndrome born and raised in Miami, FL. Dance has been a passion of Alejandra’s ever since she could walk. She shared that it is her favorite sport because it is when she “feels most free.”
National nonprofit Dream On 3 (DO3) is helping kids and young adults, ages 5-21, living with life-altering conditions realize their sports dream. The Collegiate Dream Team (CDT), one of the organization’s signature programs, offers students on college campuses nationwide a way to work together to make a sports dream come true for a deserving individual in their community. Alejandra was selected by the University of Miami CDT, a group of students who will help her realize her dream of dancing with collegiate level dancers, after being referred to Dream On 3 by Gigi’s Playhouse Miami.
Alejandra’s Dream will kick off with a surprise sendoff including Sebastian at the Montessori Academy of Broward on Friday morning where a limited number of press will be allowed to attend. Included in Alejandra’s Dream will be a shopping spree at the UMiami store, interaction at the UMiami Dance Team practice, tickets to the UMiami baseball game, a VIP experience at the men’s basketball game where Alejandra will perform with the Dance Team, all meals and lodging, and more.
“We are so proud of all that the University of Miami Collegiate Dream Team has been able to accomplish. We know that this experience will be one to remember for Alejandra and her family,” says Brad Hurn, Sr. Program Coordinator for DO3. Alejandra’s Dream will take place February 24 – 26.
