West Miami’s Vice Mayor Eric Diaz-Padron announced today his decision to enter the race to become West Miami’s next Mayor. The municipal race is scheduled for April 12, 2022.
“I look forward to bringing in a new perspective and leadership style to address the issues our residents care about – overdevelopment, lower taxes, safer neighborhoods, and ensuring a resident-driven form of government.” – Declared Diaz-Padron

Vice Mayor Diaz-Padron has earned the endorsement of Miami-Dade County Commissioner Rebeca Sosa, a long-time West Miami resident and former city mayor.
“I have known Eric well for many years. I can think of no other individual with the passion, skills, and vision to lead our City. He will be a vigorous advocate for West Miami families. I am proud to support his candidacy, and I strongly encourage our City residents to vote for Eric Diaz- Padron in this upcoming election.”– Declared Miami-
Vice Mayor Eric Diaz-Padron was born in the City of West Miami. He attended St. Theresa Catholic School, Belen Jesuit Preparatory School, and Florida International University before earning a Dean’s Merit Scholarship to attend the University of Miami School of Law, where he graduated with honors.
Prior to serving on the city commission, he served on the Board of Trustees of the Miami-Dade Transportation Trust, the City of West Miami Charter Review Board, and on the Miami-Dade Millennial Task Force, serving as Chair of the Economic & Community Development Subcommittee, Planning Advisory Group for the Miami-Dade East-West Rapid Transit Corridor, Florida Bar Grievance Committee – Eleventh Circuit, and the Florida League of Cities Land Use and Economic Development Committee. Eric currently serves on the Florida League of Cities Young Elected Municipal Officials Advisory Council and the Miami Dade County International Trade Consortium.
