Coral Gables Woman’s Club’s (CGWC) final dinner meeting of the club year served celebrated a board rededication ceremony with awards presentation on June 4.
The General Federation of Women’s Club (GFWC0 FL finance director and former District 11 chair Elizabeth Fisher officiated over a lovely ceremony. The current District 11 director and past president of the club, Dr. Ruth Martinez, coordinated a memorable night for all.
After enjoying some food and drinks and the rededication, club president Arely Ruiz gave a short speech followed by the presentation of several awards were presented to outstanding members. Two of the most prestigious and oldest awards were announced.
The Barbara Lapsley New Member Award was presented to Lydia Sanchez-Garrett and the Gloria Burns Leadership Award was presented to Iris Segui. In addition those two awards, Ruiz also recognized three members who have also demonstrated outstanding leadership and creativity with the Pink Diamond Award: Media chair Luisaura Alvarez, Arts & Culture chair Alex Gullen, and Environment chair Jackie de Francisco. Thanks to these women and the entire membership, the club operates three businesses: clubhouse rentals to maintain the historic building that helps support the free clinic; owning and operating its free children’s dental clinic, and the running the GFWC club business itself.
