Citizens Interested in Arts to honor Mitchell Kaplan at luncheon, Mar. 25

Citizens Interested in Arts Inc. has announced its honoree for the Champion of the Arts Award Ceremony on Sunday, Mar. 25, at 11 a.m.

This year’s recipient is Mitchell Kaplan.

A former educator and lover of learning, Kaplan was the founder of Books & Books in 1982, which is still a destination landmark in Coral Gables. Additionally, he was a driving force in creating the now internationally respected Miami Book Fair.

This past year he added to his impressive credentials a movie adaptation of “The Man Who Invented Christmas” by Les Standiford.

To add to the excitement of this event the luncheon will be at the incomparable Faena Forum, 3300 Collins Ave. in Miami Beach.

Renowned humor columnist and author Dave Barry will emcee. Along with a sumptuous luncheon, there will be a silent auction and live entertainment.
