Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce Gables Chamber of Commerce Announces the Winners of the 2011 AXA Advisors BusinessWomen of the year awards

The Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce honored excellence in business by celebrating six outstanding women at the 2011 AXA Advisors Businesswomen of the Year Awards on Friday, March 11, at 11:30 a.m. at the newly renovated and re-opened Coral Gables Country Club.

“We are very proud and honored to once again present and sponsor the Businesswomen of the Year Awards,” said Luis Chiappy, Regional Executive Vice President of AXA Advisors. “Our company works towards recognizing the particular needs of businesswomen, and women in general. With that goal in mind, we have designed a series of programs and specialized financial plans to help women take control of their finances and their financial future.”

The Chamber also presented Marge Hunt Hartnett with the Margaret St. Germain Cornerstone Award for her tireless contributions to the Coral Gables community. This award is in honor of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce’s first woman chair, who served the organization from 1975-1976. She’s remembered as a mentor by many and as a member of the “Committee of 21,” which was instrumental in bringing multinational businesses into the City of Coral Gables.

The 2011 AXA Advisors Businesswomen of the Year Awards were created to recognize women who demonstrate excellence in their business or profession, as well as a commitment to serve as role models for other women.

Jackie Nespral, anchor and reporter for NBC 6, served as the Mistress of Ceremonies and announced the winner in each of the five categories: Entrepreneur, Corporate, Philanthropy, Public Service/Non-Profit and Retailer/Restauranteur.

The following leaders are the winners in their corresponding categories of the 2011 AXA Advisors Businesswomen of Year Awards:
