The Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce recently honored excellence in business by celebrating five outstanding women at the 2013 AXA Advisors Businesswomen of the Year Awards. This signature awards program recognizes women who achieve success in their business or profession, as well as a commitment to serve as role models for other women.

“We are very proud and honored to once again present and sponsor the Businesswomen of the Year Awards,” said Luis Chiappy, regional executive vice president of AXA Advisors. “Our company works towards recognizing the particular needs of businesswomen, and women in general. With that goal in mind, we have designed a series of programs and specialized financial plans to help women take control of their finances and their financial future.”

Natalia Zea, anchor and reporter for CBS4, served as the emcee and announced the winner in each of the five categories: Entrepreneur, Corporate, Philanthropy, Public Service/Non-Profit and Restaurateur. The following outstanding women were honored as winners at the 2013 AXA Advisors Businesswomen of Year Awards:

Outstanding Entrepreneur Award, Presented by Dan’s Video Creations — Judith Berger, MDR Associates;

Outstanding Corporate Award, Presented by U.S. Century Bank — Mara Rey Suarez, City National Bank;

Outstanding Philanthropy Award, Presented by Sabadell United Bank — Lynn Bauer, Bauer Financial;

Outstanding Public Service/Non-Profit Award, Presented by AXA Advisors LLC — Angel Pittman, Touching Miami with Love, and

Outstanding Restaurateur Award, Presented by Credomatic Merchant Services —Christina Ward, Clevelander Miami.

“I am grateful to the Coral Gables Chamber for taking the time to recognize women in our community for their achievements and dedication to community,” said Mara Suarez, Corporate Award winner and executive vice president of City National Bank. “I’m humbled by the recognition and by the amazing group of women that were recognized with the Businesswomen of the Year Award.”
