As if to echo Coral Gables’ newest ranking as the third top small city in the U.S. to start a small business, Norwegian courier company ASAP delivers has begun U.S. operations in Coral Gables.

The Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce capped off Small Business Week by honoring ASAP, the new smart phone web and mobile application to send and receive packages, with a proclamation for success at the official U.S. launch event.

Local dignitaries attended the launch where the ASAP executive team. including Tommy Larsen, chief operating officer and co-owner, ASAP were welcomed and presented a proclamation by Mark Trowbridge, president of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce.

Miami is the first test site in the U.S. to experience the new smart phone application that will bring the age-old courier process to the 21st Century. Consumers and drivers can join this innovative community of app users for the first time in Miami-Dade County.

“We were successful with this app in Norway, so we wanted to revolutionize the delivery business in the U.S. with the ASAP app beginning in Miami-Dade County,” Larsen said. “Miami was the ideal city for our launch due to its large population and land mass as well as the fact that it is one of the top 20 fastest growing cities in the U.S. for economic growth.”

As one of the few “driver-on-demand” platforms in the world to use a competitive bidding process, drivers have the flexibility to offer their best pricing, quickly and securely, for all customers’ pickup and delivery needs. Once their package is on the way, customers can track the delivery in real-time via GPS and communicate directly with the driver.
