Studio 54 came alive at the Coral Gables Woman’s Club on Mar. 30 for the club’s annual President’s Reception in honor of club president Arely Ruiz.
A lighted dance floor and DJ Johnny encouraged guests to start dancing even before the cocktail hour was over and these people love to dance. Kudos to the club’s first vice president Yvonne Llauro for a great themed event orchestrating what even our oldest members agreed was the best ever President’s Reception. Helping Yvonne with table centerpieces and decoration were Linda Hartwell and Ana Lam.
Among the many past presidents on hand with Arely to enjoy the evening were Barbara Lapsley, Debi Van Stone, Mayra Dominguez, Dorothy Thomson, Linda Hartwell, and Mireya Kilmon.
Yet another GFWC District 11 club president on hand to celebrate the evening was Virginia Yermoli, from Coconut Grove Woman’s Club, with past District 11 director Linda Randolph.
Both of those clubs are part of the General Federation of Woman’s Club that conducted its annual convention in Orlando the weekend of Apr. 5. Clubs from Miami-Dade County were well represented.
In other news, the Florida Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association Inc. will be celebrating 60 years with its 60th Diamond Jubilee on Saturday, Apr. 27, 7-11:59 p.m., at the Doubletree Miami Airport Hotel Convention Center East Hall, 711 NW 72 Ave.
Single Tickets are $160 and a table of 10 is $1,500. Black & White formal attire is recommended for this affair that is always “over the top” fun with a lavish reception before dinner, entertainment, awards program, great food and open bar. This promises to be a stellar evening. Congratulations to the FCBF on 60 years.
