Residents in Coral Gables: What to do with your trash

A reminder for all residents on what to do with trash.

Single family home residents in Coral Gables receive garbage collection twice a week, as well as recycling and bulk trash pickup — up to one cubic yard — once a week. Residents living in large multi-family complexes are serviced by Waste Management Inc. and receive similar garbage and recycling collection services, but receive limited bulk trash depending on the type and location of their residences.

If you are a Coral Gables resident looking to dispose of household hazardous waste such as unbroken compact fluorescent light bulbs, paint cans, pesticides, pool chemicals or cleaning solvents, you can take them to the Miami-Dade County Home Chemical Collection Centers located at: West Dade (8831 NW 58 St.) and South Dade (23707 SW 97 Ave.). These centers are open Wednesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The City of Coral Gables is hosting an electronic recycling and residential household hazardous waste collection on Saturday, Nov. 18, from 9 a.m. until noon in the City Hall parking lot.
To dispose of furniture, large appliances such as refrigerators, stoves, washer/dryers, or any other bulky material, residents living in single-family and duplex units need to schedule a pickup by calling the Sanitation Division at 305-460-5346.

Residents in multifamily complexes are instead serviced by Waste Management and must contact 305-471-4444 to schedule a pickup. Old and unusable furniture also can be brought to Miami Dade County’s West Transfer station at 2900 SW 72 Ave. Their hours of operation are Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For more information, contact Miami-Dade County at 3-1-1.
