Suncycling, a Coconut Grove-based bike shop on Bird Avenue and 27th Avenue, hosted an exclusive invitation-only event on Nov. 9 for high-end performance focus bicyclists.

The event featured two senior leaders from Argon18, a Canadian cycle manufacturer founded by a world renowned cycling champion, Gervais Rioux.

“We are really excited about Suncycling. They serve their community, the professionals, and are passionate about bikings place in culture of South Florida,” said Dominique Fortin, one of the two senior leaders at Argon18.

The founder of Argon18, Gervais Rioux, represented Canada in the CommonWealth games, rode in the 1988 Summer Olympics and has over 150 wins across 1,500 races.

More than 20 people attended the event and Argon18 unveiled three new bikes — Krypton GF, E119+, and the Nitrogen Pro.

Suncycling was founded more than a year ago by Oliver de Abreu. Oliver was born in Venezuela and earned his MBA in Spain before moving to Miami. Since then, Suncycling has grown to two locations — Coconut Grove and Hialeah — with a goal of opening a Brickell location in spring 2018.

“We’re excited to be the exclusive South Florida distributor for Argon18,” Abreu said. “Their high end performance-driven bikes are specifically built for the enthusiast and competitors looking to get that edge in ironmans, triathlons, and high performance bike events.

“We genuinely 100 percent believe that biking is the best way to stay fit, get healthy, and build better relationships with your community.

There aren’t too many hobbies where you can get outside, spend time with your family, and burn 600-900 calories while exploring a city.”
Every week the entire Suncycling team heads out for their bike ride. They leave Coconut Grove, ride along the Rickenbacker Causeway, and meet at the Oasis Sandwich shop in Key Biscayne.

“The ride is 20 miles, isn’t a huge time commitment, and we found amateurs and professionals use the ride to either get familiar to their bikes or keep up their training,” Abreu said. “Every bike we sell comes with over 20 Suncycling perks — ranging from a 14-day change-your-mind refund, free flat repairs, weekly fun rides, personal training, nutritional expertise, fitting sessions, body measurements, watch parties, and access to invite only bike events.
