Taqueria Coyo Taco announces new outpost in the heart of Coral Gables

Taqueria Coyo Taco has announced its continued expansion in South Florida with a new location on Giralda Plaza in the heart of Coral Gables.

The outpost will feature Coyo Tacos’ signature recipes including authentic tacos, burritos, handmade tortillas, aguas frescas, and more served in a traditional taqueria setting prepared with a “Todo es Fresco” (Everything is Fresh) philosophy. The new location will house a speakeasy featuring live deejays nightly and an expansive selection of more than 50 tequilas and mezcals.

Located within two blocks of Coral Gables’ famous Miracle Mile, Coyo Taco will open its doors on the revamped Giralda Plaza, a locals hotspot known for its impressive variety of restaurants and weekly event programming. Similar to the design of its flagship location in Wynwood, Coyo Taco’s Coral Gables restaurant’s décor will embody a traditional industrial-style taqueria storefront complete with signature blue mural artwork and bright tile accents plus a breezy outdoor patio seating area on Giralda. Once inside and through a set of discreet “employee” doors, guests will discover an intimate speakeasy set to be open nightly with special programming.

“Our goal with this new Coyo Taco location is to bring an all-encompassing dining and entertainment destination to the Coral Gables neighborhood,” Sven Vogtland said. “A casual spot where locals can get together to enjoy both great food and music in an inviting setting.”

The menu will focus on bold, traditional flavors using sustainable ingredients with a variety of home-cooked dishes, fresh tortillas made from scratch, and guacamole prepared in-house daily. Highlights for the Coral Gables location include Grouper Frito with Modelo beer-battered Florida Grouper, roasted jalapeño aioli, avocado; Al Pastor made with a traditional trompo pork (vertical rotisserie), roasted pineapple, onion; Pastor de Pollo with marinated chicken, roasted pineapple, onion, cotija; and for a vegetarian option there is a Quinoa Taco with quinoa and queso “falafel”. More guest favorites include made-to-order Guacamole, and Burritos and Quesadillas, served with a choice of carnitas de pato, camaron, hongos y huitaloche and much more.

Beverage selections at the taqueria will include traditional Agua Frescas, imported Mexican bottled sodas and beers. In the lounge, guests will be able to choose from more than 50 tequilas and mezcal varieties, all of which can be mixed into the speakeasy’s inventive cocktails.

Coyo Taco Coral Gables will be located at 126 Giralda Ave. and open daily for lunch, dinner, and late-night dining from 11 a.m.-2 a.m. For more information about Coyo Taco, visit coyo-taco.com.
