The board of directors of the Coral Gables Museum recently announced the appointment of John R. Allen as the museum’s new executive director.

Allen has acted as interim director since December 2017, and previously served as the museum’s board president. He began his new role on Mar. 15.

“We couldn’t be more delighted to have John Allen lead our museum,” said Lynn Bauer, the recently named permanent chair of the board of directors. “His expertise, passion and vision for fresh programming and audience-building strategies will inspire the board and staff as we enter an exciting new phase of the museum’s growth.”

Christopher Spuches, the museum board’s newly appointed vice chair, continued, “With extensive experience gathered over his years of civic involvement, Allen comes to the Coral Gables Museum with a strong executive presence and a sincere passion for our mission.”

Allen succeeded the former director, Caroline Parker-Santiago, following her resignation. Active in the Coral Gables community for several years, Allen served as chair of the board of directors for the Coral Gables Museum. He also sat on the Executive Board for the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, where he served as treasurer, vice chair of the Trustee Council and chair elect before becoming chair in 2016.

Allen is a Merrick Society and board member of the Coral Gables Community Foundation, and has chaired that institution’s Community Giving Committee. He has additionally served on the President’s Cabinet of Nicklaus (formerly Miami) Children’s Hospital Foundation, as a board member of the Coral Gables Art Cinema, and as a trustee member of the Greater Kendall Business Association. He currently calls

The City Beautiful home.

“I am deeply honored to have been named executive director of the Coral Gables Museum,” Allen said. “The many ways in which the museum brings the past, present and future of Coral Gables to life through original exhibitions and programming is a true inspiration every day, and I look forward to bringing the Museum’s mission to an expanded audience.”

Hello and Congratulation on your new appointment.
I have something I would like you to look into in Coral Gables Museum, Several years ago maybe 10 ? I noticed the Coral Gables Museum website on Coral Gables Boy Scout Troop #7 did Not have any photos of the Troup #7 log cabin that burned down many years ago and I had one and I sent it to them after contacting them, It was put on the website for a few years but now is missing and not on the Troup #7 website ?
Please look into this and see to it that my photo, Quite possibly the Only Photo Still in Existence is returned to the Troup #7 Boy scout Website, Thank You Very much, Former Coral Gables Troup #7 Member Thomas L. Buyea, Coral Gables, Fl.
