Seasoned corporate and bankruptcy lawyer, Luis Salazar, announces the launch of Salazar Law, LLP, a Coral Gables-based, minority-owned boutique law firm. Formerly known as Salazar Jackson, the firm will continue to serve individuals and businesses facing financial crisis, complex commercial litigation or government investigations, as well as those looking to seize financial or business opportunities.
“Salazar Law is a small boutique – on purpose. But we are known for handling the same complex commercial and business matters as our Big Law competitors,” said Mr. Salazar. “We’ve accomplished that by improving the way we work. We don’t have assigned offices. Instead, we work in an open and airy common space with glass-walled breakout spaces for deep work, a mock courtroom to perfect our court appearances, and a Zen garden to release stress.”
Mr. Salazar added that to maximize efficiency and impact, the firm has adopted a project-management based culture, with Kanban boards, daily stand-up Scrum meetings, and the firm’s signature Lawgile project management platform for managing client matters. “Using our system, we can confidently provide legal services under a broad range of payment structures whether it’s flat fee, fee-per-piece, as well as more traditional hourly-billing or contingency models. Most important, we’ve chosen to work this way because it’s engaging, challenging, and fun,” Mr. Salazar noted.
In order to compete with larger, national firms, Mr. Salazar is constantly looking for ways to disrupt the typical law firm model. He was one of the first lawyers in Florida to start using ROSS Intelligence, an artificial intelligence research engine powered by IBM’s Watson, which helps cut costs and maximize efficiency for law firms. The firm has also adopted Slack as an internal communication platform and replacement for stagnant email systems, which further drives team communication and planning.
Salazar also announced the launch of Sword & Quill Consultants, which will focus on providing law firms with guidance on cybersecurity compliance, harnessing artificial intelligence, and adopting effective project management techniques. “The legal industry is in the midst of a profound disruption that will deeply impact the established ways law firms operate. Sword & Quill will help us share what we’ve learned about confronting and overcoming these daunting changes,” said Mr. Salazar.
For more than two decades, Mr. Salazar has been battling for individuals and companies facing financial or regulatory crisis. As a litigator and restructuring attorney, he has represented businesses and individuals in hundreds of matters in Federal and State courts throughout the country. He has led the Chapter 11 reorganization efforts of numerous well-known companies in a variety of industrial sectors with combined assets in the billions, including representing Florida Gaming and the iconic Miami Jai-Alai in one of South Florida’s largest Chapter 11 reorganizations in the last decade.
Salazar Law’s practice areas will include commercial litigation, compliance, corporate law, data privacy/data security and restructuring. The firm can be found online at http://salazar.law.
Mr. Salazar previously held the position of shareholder in the Miami office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig.
